Overview
Karen Lee Wagner has extensive experience in the defense of clients in diverse specialties, including labor and employment law, municipal law and land use, construction defects, vertical transportation, professional liability, tax certiorari, and medical malpractice. Ms. Wagner handles all aspects of Article 78 proceedings, plenary litigation, and appellate practice in state and federal courts in these fields.
She practices labor and employment law before the NYC Human Rights Commission, the State Department of Human Rights, and in the federal courts in matters including racial, gender, and age discrimination in employment and housing.
Her extensive experience in municipal law and land use includes serving as Town Attorney for the Town of Lewisboro, and Counsel to the Planning Board of the Town of Yorktown. She participated in performing the vast array of diurnal duties as Village Attorney for Elmsford, Briarcliff Manor, and Mamaroneck, and the Town Attorney for New Castle, including advising their boards on planning and zoning issues for major development projects. She also handled a myriad of litigation matters for those municipalities. She served as Special Counsel to the City of Peekskill and the Village of Pleasantville in select litigation matters. She handled tax certiorari cases for the Towns of New Castle and Yorktown, and in rem tax foreclosures for the Town of Lewisboro.
Ms. Wagner has represented and counseled private developers in their applications for major construction projects before Boards of Trustees, Planning Boards and Zoning Boards of Appeal. She has represented those developers in litigation arising from land use matters, including Article 78 proceedings.
She defends clients in multiple industries such as international manufacturing and service companies, architects and engineers, regional and global property owners, managing agents, and physicians of all specialties. Ms. Wagner has provided counsel to private and public sector clients, including domestic and international insurance companies. Her goal is to achieve a thorough understanding of her clients’ business or industry to facilitate her in zealously representing their interests.
Ms. Wagner is fluent in Spanish.
