Real Estate Practice
Kaufman Dolowich’s real estate attorneys handle transactions, consulting and litigation on behalf of clients across the nation. Our full spectrum of services allows clients to rely on one law firm for all of their real estate needs. We take a transaction through all stages, including contract negotiations, contract drafting, due diligence, and complex hurdles such as zoning, contamination, land use and taxation matters. When disputes arise, we work to achieve equitable, cost-effective solutions that meet our clients’ goals.
Our lawyers are uniquely positioned as legal counsel, businesspersons and brokers, and we understand the real issues that affect our clients’ transactions and projects. Our objective is to reach positive legal outcomes in a manner that best contributes to our clients’ business successes.
The real estate industry is constantly evolving. Our clients cannot afford to delay decisions or be reactionary, and neither can their lawyers. We follow the law and the market closely to take quick, decisive action in response to change and to be proactive in handling real estate issues.
Real Estate Consulting
Kaufman Dolowich offers comprehensive guidance on a wide scope of important real estate issues. We advise clients on due diligence, valuation, regulations, zoning, land use and potential problems that affect purchase, sale, development and rezoning. Our attorneys mitigate the risk of disputes through well-written, clear contract provisions.
Real Estate Transactions
Our attorneys negotiate contracts that effectively protect our clients’ best interests. Because we are seasoned litigators, we are able to anticipate and address potential disputes in contract provisions. We consider the effects of the law on the day-to-day operations of a real estate project and the actual realities of projects when applying the law.
Real Estate Litigation
A dispute can delay a closing or project completion and cost substantial time and money. Our attorneys understand the need to find the right solutions in the most expeditious and cost-effective manner.
We often recommend mediation to accomplish equitable settlements. Mediation costs less than litigation, generally reaches more timely resolution, preserves business relationships and can remain confidential. Our legal team includes a certified mediator with a master’s degree in alternative dispute resolution.
In addition, we also regularly participate in the arbitration of complex disputes. The arbitration forum offers the opportunity to present evidence and arguments before a trained quasi-judicial decision-maker to obtain binding judgments. If a dispute cannot be resolved through settlement or alternative dispute resolution, our litigation team aggressively pursues the matter in state or federal court.
