Overview
Abbye E. Alexander is co-managing partner of the firm’s Orlando office and chair of the firm’s Managed Care Practice Group. She focuses her practice on civil litigation, torts, and commercial and complex business litigation. Ms. Alexander also handles insurance defense matters, including claims asserted against officers, directors, and other professionals. In addition, she handles claims involving intentional and negligent torts, professional liability, and labor and employment matters, including negligent hiring and retention, retaliation, and discrimination claims in state and federal courts.
Ms. Alexander represents a diverse range of clients, including health care professionals, organizations and facilities, physicians across various specialties, automotive dealerships, homeowners and condominium associations, and national restaurant chains. She regularly represents these clients in business disputes involving professional licensing, labor and employment, contract disputes, trade secrets and non-compete litigation, workers’ compensation claims, insurance defense, fraud and unfair trade practices, landlord-tenant matters, other real estate disputes, and torts. She also defends homeowners and condominium associations in a variety of matters, including land and contract disputes.
An accomplished trial lawyer, Ms. Alexander has more than 20 years of experience representing clients in complex business disputes at all stages of litigation, including numerous bench and jury trials in state and federal courts. Before entering private practice, she began her career as a public defender, where she led three jury trials within her first seven months on the job.
Outside her legal practice, Ms. Alexander is active in Medical City, a planned community in Lake Nona that features leading medical research facilities. She also volunteers with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida.
