Overview
Catherine Casavant focuses her practice in insurance coverage and monitoring for primary and excess insurers on D&O, E&O and professional liability insurance policies. Ms. Casavant’s experience includes securities class actions and shareholder derivative actions, class and creditors’ breach of fiduciary duty claims, including claims arising out of mergers and acquisitions, employment liability, investment advisor/mutual fund liability and professional negligence claims. She represents various insurers on many high-profile corporate scandals including the 2008 financial crisis, mutual fund market timing, stock options backdating and the myriad litigations and investigations pertaining to the GM ignition switch.
In addition, Ms. Casavant has experience in litigation of insurance coverage disputes, attorney malpractice actions, employment matters and a variety of other matters, including copyright and trademark actions. Ms. Casavant‘s involvement in intellectual property matters dates back to some of the early litigation concerning protection of rights in software and continued after she received an L.L.M. in Trade Regulation from NYU which was focused primarily on copyright and trademark.
