Overview
Partner Zascha Abbott has more than 20 years’ experience concentrating in labor and employment law.
She represents management in all areas of employment litigation. Ms. Abbott handles claims of alleged non-compliance of wage and hour laws, class actions, harassment, and employee retaliation. She provides counsel in matters that arise from alleged hostile work environments, breach of contract claims, and in non-compete agreement disputes. Ms. Abbott represents employers before administrative and governing agencies such as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Florida Commission on Human Relations.
In addition, she assists employers in defense of claims of discrimination matters related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) including physical barrier and website accessibility claims. She represents employers in constitutional violation cases in both state and federal courts in involving claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), the Florida Civil Rights Act ( FCRA) , the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the First Amendment, the Equal Protection Clause (EPC) of the Constitution, the Florida Private Whistleblower Act (FPWA), and workers compensation retaliation claims.
Ms. Abbott provides management with training on labor and employment matters. She also conducts audits and prepares employment policies and practices and guidance on labor matters.
Additionally, she represents clients under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) governing the collection, use and protection of consumer credit information.
Before joining Kaufman Dolowich, Ms. Blanco Abbott worked for law firms representing various employers, and previously served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Miami, representing the City’s departments in labor and employment matters.
Ms. Blanco Abbott is proficient in Spanish.
