Overview
Stacey Pitcher concentrates her practice in employment law and commercial litigation.
She defends employers in a wide variety of high-exposure matters including wage and hour violations, harassment and discrimination disputes and claims of retaliation before state, federal and appellate courts and various administrative agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). She also defends accessibility claims brought under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Additionally, Ms. Pitcher counsels employers on their obligations under ever-evolving local, state and federal laws, as well as assists clients in writing and revising policies and procedures and provides relevant training to help mitigate risk and exposure.
Among clients, she represents large corporations, municipalities, housing authorities, directors and officers, school districts and nonprofits.
In addition, Ms. Pitcher defends a broad range of professionals including directors and officers, realtors, appraisers, property managers and those employed within the trades. She also represents condominiums and co-ops in shareholder derivative actions, as well as handled litigation related to premises liability, product liability and construction defects.
Of note, her past experience includes serving as defense counsel in a landmark affirmative action case in New Haven (Ricci v. DeStefano) brought before the U.S. Supreme Court, where the defense team successfully disposed of the case on summary judgment and won an affirmance from the Second Circuit. Her efforts led to a resolution of this matter of national importance.
Ms. Pitcher is past President of New Haven Young Lawyers, part of the New Haven County Bar Association. She is also a volunteer and advocate for various organizations including those supporting gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth.
