Overview

Shirley Luk focuses her practice on employment law and professional liability.

Ms. Luk represents employers in allegations of wage and hour violations, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. She defends employers in class actions, Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) actions, and disputes involving collective bargaining agreements.

Her professional liability practice includes defending clients against allegations arising from the performance of their duties such as claims against insurance agents and brokers. This includes matters alleging negligence and errors and omissions in the procurement of policies.

Prior to joining Kaufman Dolowich, Ms. Luk gained experience as an associate in conservatorship, probate, and trust matters. During law school, she served as an enforcement intern at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) San Francisco office, conducting interviews to investigate employment discrimination allegations. She was also a law clerk with Bay Area Legal Aid’s Immigration Unit, drafting visa applications for survivors of domestic violence and at Housing and Economic Rights Advocates, working on housing discrimination matters. She was active in the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association and obtained a specialized certificate in Public Interest Law.

Ms. Luk is conversant in Cantonese.
