Overview
Joseph R. Miele, Jr. represents insurers in complex insurance coverage and claim-handling disputes under a multitude of different insurance programs. He defends his clients in first-party claims, construction defect claims, directors’ & officers’, claims against condominium and home-owners’ associations, and in general liability, premises liability, environmental contamination, and, toxic-torts.
Mr. Miele has resolved hundreds of coverage and claim-handling matters in both state and federal courts through trial and on appeal. He has litigated and provided insurance coverage evaluations in most states, nationwide. Mr. Miele has vast experience in coverage matters arising from large and catastrophic damage claims including in hurricanes/storm events, and infectious disease matters.
Originally from New Jersey, Mr. Miele practiced in his home state and in neighboring New York, beginning with a insurance carrier in overseeing complex claims nationwide. There he gained considerable knowledge of the insurance industry and experience in the claim handling and resolution process, which has proven invaluable throughout his professional career.
Mr. Miele frequently lectures and counsels insurers and third-party administrators on insurance coverage law and proper claim-handling practices.
