Overview

Jody Cappello focuses his practice on professional liability and employment law. 

With more than two decades of experience, Mr. Cappello represents clients in a broad spectrum of professional liability matters, including claims alleging professional negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, and related complex disputes. As part of his practice, he routinely defends attorneys in legal malpractice matters and grievance proceedings and also represents a wide range of other professionals in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.

In his employment practice, he defends employers in litigation and pre-litigation alternative dispute resolution and provides strategic counsel on the full range of issues arising out of the employer–employee relationship. His experience includes advising and defending clients on wage-and-hour compliance, discrimination and harassment claims, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) matters, restrictive covenant disputes, and the enforcement and defense of non-compete agreements.

Prior to joining Kaufman Dolowich, Mr. Cappello served as a partner at a large national defense firm where he primarily focused on professional liability, legal malpractice matters and employment law. He previously spent more than a decade as a partner at another prominent national firm that provided defense litigation and insurance coverage services.
