Jack Babchik

Overview

Jack Babchik has more than 40 years of trial and appellate experience and has argued before federal and state appellate courts, including the New York Court of Appeals. His practice focuses on professional liability and errors and omissions, employment practices liability, labor law, insurance coverage, directors and officers liability, and general liability defense. He regularly represents architects, engineers, accountants, attorneys, health care providers, insurance brokers, and real estate professionals in claims alleging malpractice, negligence, and errors and omissions in the performance of their professional duties.

In labor and employment law, Mr. Babchik represents employers against claims involving hostile work environments, employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, wage-and-hour violations, and retaliation. He handles these matters before state and federal courts, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the New York State Division of Human Rights, the New York City Commission on Human Rights, and other local agencies.

Mr. Babchik received certified mediator training through the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and has mediated general liability, employment, and housing discrimination cases. He has taught continuing legal education (CLE) courses on professional liability and legal malpractice for the New York State Bar Association. He also served as chair of the Ethics Committee of the Westchester County Bar Association, where he taught and organized CLE programs on legal ethics.

Mr. Babchik began his career as an associate at a large patent law firm before joining a professional liability defense firm, where he later became a partner. In 1999, he founded Babchik & Young, LLP, whose practice included professional liability, labor and employment law, insurance coverage, directors and officers liability, vertical transportation, construction litigation, and general liability defense.

In 2021, after 22 years of practice, Babchik & Young, LLP joined Kaufman Dolowich LLP to better serve clients in the business and insurance industries.

Mr. Babchik holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, recognizing his legal ability and professional ethics. He has also been named to the Top 25: Westchester County Lawyers list and has been recognized by Super Lawyers every year since 2009.
