Overview
G. David Rubin concentrates his practice in the areas of complex civil litigation including commercial disputes, professional and executive liability, employment law and insurance coverage.
Mr. Rubin handles a broad range of commercial litigation matters including business disputes and class and collective actions. Additionally, he frequently represents directors and officers (D&O) in litigation in both state and federal courts. In his professional liability practice, Mr. Rubin defends a diverse group of professionals including architects, engineers, insurance brokers, and accountants against claims of negligence and breach of duty.
He has significant experience representing clients in real estate and construction-related claims through all phases of litigation.
Additionally, Mr. Rubin represents employers in defending a wide range of litigated claims brought by current and former employees, including wage and hour violations, contract disputes and allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination.
His general liability defense work includes representing clients in such matters as environmental and products liability claims, where he has served in the capacity of national coordinating counsel.
More broadly, Mr. Rubin is well-versed in representing clients in high-stakes complex litigation. This includes representing insurers in complex coverage matters and litigation and advising carriers on effective claims handling practices. Over the years, he has been called upon to represent clients pro hac vice in courts throughout the country, including defending COVID-19 business interruption related claims in Oregon, Arizona, and Kentucky. Additionally, he has substantial experience litigating First Amendment matters including those related to anti-SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) motions.
His extensive litigation experience includes handling complex cases at both the state and federal level, from inception to resolution, including dispositive motions, trial, arbitration and related appellate practice.
Before joining Kaufman Dolowich, Mr. Rubin was a partner at a national litigation defense firm, where he focused his practice on complex civil litigation including commercial disputes, products liability, general liability, insurance coverage, professional liability and employment law. He also was a founding partner of that firm’s flagship California office and served as its office managing partner for five years.
