Edward Patrick Abbott

Overview

Edward Patrick Abbott focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, professional liability, construction litigation, cyber liability, environmental law, securities, labor and employment law, and employment practices liability. He represents publicly traded and privately held companies, contractors, executives, public officials, public entities, and licensed professionals.

Mr. Abbott advises companies across a range of industries, including health care, on data breaches, notification requirements, and crisis management. His experience also includes litigation involving data breaches, intellectual property, trademarks, licensing, and software agreements. In addition, he counsels companies on data security and drafts and evaluates privacy policies, user agreements, and data security provisions for service agreements.

Prior to joining Kaufman Dolowich, Mr. Abbott practiced at a large national labor and employment law firm and a Southern New Jersey law firm, where he handled land use and commercial litigation matters. Following law school, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Eugene D. Serpentelli, Assignment Judge of the Superior Court in Ocean County, New Jersey. During law school, he was a member of the Rutgers Journal of Law and Religion, ultimately serving as Lead Notes Editor.

Outside his legal practice, Mr. Abbott plays trumpet in a jazz band. He also participated in an international commercial arbitration moot in Vienna, Austria.
