Overview

D. Najaf Shah focuses her practice in commercial litigation, employment law, and corporate and intellectual property law.

Ms. Shah represents clients in state and federal court, handling matters through mediation, litigation and trial.

In her commercial litigation practice, she handles complex commercial disputes. She also provides counsel to businesses on business compliance, structuring, entering partnership agreements, licensing, and a variety of master service agreements.

In her employment law practice, Ms. Shah represents management and employers in matters involving Unlawful Terminations, Retaliation, Discrimination in violation of Title VII rights, Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) actions, and Harassment claims. She also serves as advisory counsel for employers and assists with developing processes for hiring and termination, drafts employment agreements, employee handbooks and privacy policies, as well as defends employers in matters arising under the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Prior to joining Kaufman Dolowich, Ms. Shah practiced at California law firms, where she handled commercial litigation matters on behalf Fortune 100 companies. Her experience includes defending clients in complex commercial litigation, discrimination matters, PAGA actions, real estate litigation, and landlord-tenant disputes. She has defended real estate developers, software developers, interior designers, contractors, and architects against allegations of negligence.

Ms. Shah is fluent in Urdu.
