Overview

Christopher Barnes focuses his practice on professional liability, general liability and employment law.

Mr. Barnes defends professionals and their firms in complex liability matters, including claims involving negligence, fraud, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty. 

He also represents insurers and other clients across a broad range of general liability matters, including wrongful death, construction defect, and premises liability claims.

In his employment practice, he defends employers against claims of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. 

Mr. Barnes has worked with both plaintiffs and defendants on a wide range of issues including personal injury matters, landlord tenant disputes, real property disputes, as well as media and entertainment related transactions. He is also licensed as a California real estate salesperson.

Prior to joining Kaufman Dolowich, Mr. Barnes handled catastrophic injury litigation at a defense firm. He also practiced at a civil litigation firm, focusing on habitability and personal injury matters, and previously worked at a regional personal injury firm.
