Overview
Carya Gail Bradford has extensive experience in defending labor and employment law, professional liability, and constitutional and civil rights claims.
In her practice, she defended both governmental and private employers in workplace matters involving discrimination, harassment, whistleblower claims, employee discipline and termination, and related issues, in administrative hearings and state and federal litigation. Her experience includes matters arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), and wage-and-hour claims). She has also advised and represented public school boards in Florida on Title IX, negligence claims, and other related matters.
In addition, Ms. Bradford is an experienced appellate attorney. She has handled litigation through appeal, regularly briefing and arguing on behalf of clients at both state and federal appellate courts.
Ms. Bradford regularly advises employers in responding to charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Florida Commission on Human Relations (FCHR). She also counsels clients on workplace employment, public safety, and public records issues to help minimize the risk of disputes and litigation and assists with the development and implementation of policies and practices. In addition, she frequently conducts training sessions and presents on employment- and public safety-related topics.
Ms. Bradford’s professional liability practice includes representing attorneys and other professionals in claims such as breach of fiduciary duty and negligence.
Before joining Kaufman Dolowich, Ms. Bradford served as a partner and shareholder at a regional law firm focused primarily on insurance defense. Her prior experience includes substantial work in representing local governments and their employees, particularly in public safety and employment matters. Before entering private practice, Ms. Bradford was an attorney for the City of Atlanta where she handled administrative and litigation matters, representing the City and its employees in federal, state, and administrative proceedings. She also advised the City Council during public meetings and provided legal support to the Department of Corrections concerning internal investigations and disciplinary actions. Additionally, Ms. Bradford has served as legal counsel and foster parent to various Florida Dachshund rescue organizations and is interested in animal advocacy issues.
