TJC Issues Sentinel Event Alert on Responding to Severe Weather Incidents, Healthcare Risk Management quotes Henry Norwood, Esq., January 2025

Severe weather can wreak havoc for healthcare organizations if they are unprepared. The Joint Commission (TJC) has released a Sentinel Event Alert, “Environmental disasters: Preparing to safely evacuate or shelter in place,” that can help healthcare organizations prepare for such events.

Henry Norwood of Kaufman Dolowich LLP weighs in on the guidance as well as discusses how organizations can benefit from planning ahead including providing failsafe systems such as backup electric generators.
