Kaufman Dolowich Adds John Simon as Partner in Professional Liability Practice, 8-26-2026

Woodbury, NY (August 26, 2026) —Kaufman Dolowich LLP announced today that John Simon has joined the firm as a partner in its Woodbury, New York, office as a member of its Professional Liability Practice Group.

Simon will focus his practice on professional liability defense, primarily representing attorneys and insurance brokers in matters involving legal malpractice, negligence, fraud, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty. He brings to the practice extensive defense litigation and trial experience.

Earlier in his career, Simon spent approximately nine years as in-house counsel at a major insurance company, where he developed significant courtroom experience litigating cases in New York state court. He has taken numerous cases to verdict and has experience across all phases of the litigation lifecycle.

Simon also spent time representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters, an experience that gave him a different perspective and ultimately reinforced his commitment to defense work which he brings to his practice today, including an understanding of how opposing counsel may evaluate, develop and pursue claims.

For Simon, joining Kaufman Dolowich also presents an opportunity to broaden his defense practice by applying that litigation experience to professional liability matters, particularly the defense of attorneys in legal malpractice cases and insurance brokers facing professional liability claims.

Simon earned his J.D. from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and his B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany.
