Overview

Sean Sullivan represents national insurers against various general liability and property claims. He has experience handling matters ranging from individual coverage and policy disputes to large exposure commercial claims. He has significant experience defending first-party property damage claims under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and homeowners’ insurance in numerous federal and state courts. Mr. Sullivan handles defense, coverage, and bad-faith litigation, with significant experience defending and advising clients related to extra-contractual claims.

Well-versed in multi-state and federal insurance regulations, Mr. Sullivan regularly addresses issues related to claims handling and alleged bad-faith conduct. He represents private insurers and “Write Your Own” NFIP carriers in a variety of property damage matters, and private carriers in high-exposure liability matters.

He holds an Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) in water damage restoration, supporting his evaluation of property damage, estimates, and coverage issues.

Prior to joining Kaufman Dolowich, Mr. Sullivan was a partner at a national firm, focusing on consumer financial services, employment defense, and insurance coverage. Earlier in his career, he practiced at a national business law firm, handling first-party insurance defense litigation.
