Overview
Joseph Farneti concentrates his practice in labor and employment law. He represents businesses and insurance clients in a range of employment-related litigation.
In this capacity, Mr. Farneti defends against wage and hour disputes including allegations related to unpaid wages, tips, and bonuses. He represents clients facing claims brought by current and former employees involving workplace discrimination, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), class actions, harassment, retaliation, and other violations of federal, state, and local civil rights statutes. These include those under the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the New York State Division of Human Rights, the Commissions on Human Rights and the Department of Labor (DOL). Mr. Farneti provides counsel to employers regarding employee contracts, policies, and handbooks.
Prior to joining Kaufman Dolowich, Mr. Farneti was most recently an employee benefits investigator for the U.S. DOL, Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA). There he handled complex civil and criminal investigations of varied employee benefit plans, service providers, trust departments, and other financial entities. During law school, Mr. Farneti was an editor of the school’s Labor and Employment Law Journal.
