Overview

Chantel Wonder focuses her practice on consumer financial services, employment defense, and insurance coverage matters.

In her consumer financial services practice, she handles a broad range of matters including those involving debt collection and bankruptcy. She regularly defends clients against alleged violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUPTA), and Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act (FCCPA). An experienced trial attorney, she has represented clients in federal and state courts, as well as class actions, appeals, and hundreds of bench trials.

Ms. Wonder also represents employers in a wide variety of employment-related matters including wage and hour disputes, harassment claims, non-compete agreements, breach of contract, torts, equal employment and accessibility issues.

In addition, she has extensive experience handling insurance coverage disputes for a diverse client base, including homeowners’ associations, property owners, and developers, as well as engineers, contractors, and other design and trade professionals. Her insurance practice encompasses first-party property claims arising from floods, fires, and hurricanes, as well as matters involving construction and code defects, breach of contract, and failures to perform management duties.

Prior to joining KD, Ms. Wonder was a partner at a national defense firm concentrating on consumer financial services, employment defense, and insurance coverage. Earlier in her career, she practiced at a large Am Law 100 firm and served for eight years as in-house litigation counsel for a national debt buyer, where she handled numerous highly contested matters.
