Yang & Wang Partner and Founder Brings Robust IP &
Technology Practice with Electrical Engineering Experience

May 14, 2014, Los Angeles – Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck (KD) LLP today announced the addition of Elizabeth Yang as Of Counsel in its Los Angeles office.  Yang was the founder and a named partner at Yang & Wang P.C., where she established a strong reputation and practice in intellectual property law, including patents, copyrights and trademarks.

“KD is very excited to add Elizabeth to our Technology, Cyber and Intellectual Property team.  Given the new wave of global exposures faced by institutions and corporations in the digital world, insurance companies increasingly are dealing with claims arising from violations of privacy, property and theft of information stemming from cyber intrusions,” said Mark Mao, Vice Chair of the Technology Practices Group. “Elizabeth’s years of experience as an electrical and hardware engineer in addition to her patent prosecution work further the depth and experience of our group, enabling KD to provide clients with elite service and obtain the best results.”

Yang’s IP practice principally focuses on Intellectual Property litigation in the Federal District Courts and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).  In addition, she provides complex business litigation, patent prosecution and trademark prosecution services to clients in diverse industry sectors. She is also experienced in drafting patent validity opinion letters, requests for reexamination, intellectual property licensing agreements and trademark consent agreements.

“KD has all the resources I need to take my practice to the next level,” said Ms. Yang.  “With the KD platform supporting my practice, I will have a broader reach and expanded capabilities to offer clients.  I am confident that my clients will benefit from the resources I will now have available and my skills will benefit KD’s clients.”

In addition to Yang & Wang, Yang practiced at Howrey LLP and Novak Druce Connolly Bove + Quigg LLP, where her work primarily focused on intellectual property  matters in the technology sector, including electronics, hardware, software, variable data printers, fingerprinting sensors, data packet processing, network security systems, microprocessors, and automated telephonic systems, as well as IP litigation.

A 2006 graduate of University of La Verne College of Law, Yang also earned an MBA from La Verne College in 2007, and a BSEECS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California – Berkeley in 2002.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Yang worked for Raytheon Company as an electrical engineer designing radar systems as well as at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab as a team member on the main control unit of the Mars Exploration Rover.
