NY’s Novel Data Security Proposal Likely To Have Wide Appeal, Law360 ft. Marc Voses

Posted Feb 3, 2015

Marc Voses, partner in KD’s New York City office, is quoted in an article published by Law360 on January 27, 2015. In the article, which discusses the new data security standards proposed by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Marc shares his thoughts on the Obama administration’s push for a nationwide standard.

“While New York is pushing forward to become the leading state in data privacy protection, the Obama administration is calling for a national standard,” Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck LLP partner Marc Voses said. “Depending on the final federal legislation, there is a possibility that the new federal law could preempt many states’ laws that are already in existence, [which] would require companies to engage in a new round of assessing whether they are in compliance with any new data security guidelines established.”
