Kaufman Dolowich Expands Torrance Office with Addition of Partner Mark Worthge, 5-5-25

Posted May 5, 2025

Torrance, Calif. (May 5, 2025) – Kaufman Dolowich, a leading national law firm, today announced Mark Worthge has joined the firm’s Torrance office as a partner. Worthge has more than 30 years of experience advising clients in Construction Law, Labor & Employment, Financial Services, and Commercial Litigation matters.

A licensed professional engineer, Worthge brings a valuable perspective to his practice, primarily focused in construction industry defense, when advising his clients. He is a particularly effective and insightful advocate in construction claims litigation, arbitration, and mediation, as well as in contract drafting, negotiation, and interpretation, and advises those involved in all phases of construction, including developers, building owners, contractors and subcontractors. He also handles general liability defense matters and provides employment defense, including cases involving PAGA claims and wage & hour disputes. His clients include companies across multiple industries, including the financial services sector, where he defends institutions in third-party claims and also advises them on construction-related legal issues.

Prior to joining Kaufman Dolowich, Worthge was a partner at Litchfield Cavo LLP, where he previously served for four years as the Managing Partner of its Pasadena office. He also previously worked alongside Joel Benavides, now Managing Partner of Kaufman Dolowich’s Torrance office, at Greenberg, Whitcombe, Takeuchi, LLP, which later joined Kaufman Dolowich.

“I’ve been acquainted with Kaufman Dolowich for a long time and have always admired the firm’s professional aptitude and collaborative spirit,” said Worthge. “I maintained a close professional relationship with Joel after our time working together, and I even had the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with him on a case. His work ethic and integrity left a lasting impression. If you can trust someone you’re opposing, that’s exactly the kind of person you want as a partner.”

Worthge also looks forward to strengthening and expanding relationships in the industries he works with. He has been a regular guest speaker at conferences and events held by the American Institute of Architects, and believes the move to Kaufman Dolowich will better equip him to serve his clients more effectively with the firm’s bench strength and national footprint.

“Mark and I have worked in the same legal circles for many years, and I’ve always been impressed by his holistic approach to helping his clients,” said Benavides. “He’s not only extremely knowledgeable in his craft, but it’s also clear that he keeps his clients’ best interests at the forefront—taking into account all the factors that impact their business and legal needs. We’re thrilled to welcome someone of Mark’s caliber and integrity to the firm.”

A native Californian, Worthge is passionate about giving back to his community. He volunteers as a referee for the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and as a former Eagle Scout, he is a longtime Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts Troop 257, mentoring youth and promoting leadership through service.

Worthge received his J.D. from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law, and his B.S. in Engineering, with an emphasis in Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering, from the University of California at Los Angeles’ School of Engineering and Applied Science.
