Overview
Tabitha Mangano concentrates her practice on matters concerning consumer financial services, creditor’s rights, and commercial litigation. Ms. Mangano represents clients in commercial disputes and defends creditors and agencies in individual and class action allegations involving federal and state consumer protection laws. This includes matters under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
Ms. Mangano provides compliance counseling to businesses, individuals, and insurers for credit and collection industry regulations. This includes review and updating of business policies and procedures, especially in adherence with governmental regulatory bodies such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Ms. Mangano also has extensive experience in bankruptcy law. She has represented creditors and debtors in all types of bankruptcy matters.
Prior to joining Kaufman Dolowich, Ms. Mangano was District Counsel for the Louisiana and Mississippi District Offices of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). At SBA, she provided legal services for the full spectrum of SBA programs and advised program officials on legal matters related to loan processing, eligibility, administration, liquidation, and litigation. Her previous law firm experience includes managing a firm default servicing team and representing creditors in foreclosure, bankruptcy, eviction, and litigation proceedings. This work also included real estate title review, title curative litigation and closings. Before focusing on creditor’s rights, she represented debtors filing consumer bankruptcy cases. After law school, she completed a state court clerkship for the Honorable Mary Hotard Becnel of the 40th JDC in Louisiana.
