Overview

Monica Townsend focuses her practice on professional liability, commercial litigation, and employment law.

In her professional liability practice, Ms. Townsend defends a range of professionals including directors and officers, medical professionals, lawyers, and accountants in allegations of negligence and breach of duty claims.

Ms. Townsend defends commercial and corporate clients including businesses and individuals in shareholder disputes, contract negotiations, and business formation.

Prior to joining Kaufman Dolowich, Ms. Townsend served as a Deputy Attorney General with the Delaware Department of Justice where she represented the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families as General Counsel.  During her time there, she also provided counsel on employment matters, oversaw all aspects of litigation in Family Court, and represented the Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board in unemployment insurance matters. Prior to joining the DOJ, Ms. Townsend advised mortgage lenders and servicers on state and federal legal developments regarding mortgage defaults and servicing, which included litigating cases in Delaware Superior Court and the Court of Chancery.
