Overview
Attorney Mikaila John focuses her practice on employment law. She defends employers in the private sector, the nonprofit arena, as well as insurance carrier clients.
Ms. John represents clients facing claims of wage and hour violations, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, age and race discrimination, and retaliation. She advises employers on compliance and defends against matters arising from The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), The New Jersey Family Leave Act, and New Jersey’s Conscientious Employee Protection Act. Additionally, she provides human resources counseling on employee policies and procedures. Ms. John represents clients in state court, federal court, and in administrative hearings.
Prior to joining Kaufman Dolowich, Ms. John was an associate at a Pennsylvania law firm, where she defended employers in the public and private sector in claims of discrimination and retaliation. She also worked in general liability and commercial litigation, defending insurance carrier clients in premises liability and property damage matters.
During law school, Ms. John served in two of her university’s law clinics, the Chicago Public School’s law department, and was a judicial extern at the Illinois Appellate Court.
